Frequently asked questions

Are rose plants hard to care for?

Rose plants don't need to be a thorn in your side — in fact, they're surprisingly easy to take care of. If you grow them in the right position, and feed them once a season during warm weather, they only need a little bit of extra TLC.

What are the best kinds of roses to buy in Melbourne?

We sell almost 70 different kinds of rose plants at our nurseries, so it's hard to pick just one which is the best. Instead, we've picked one for every colour, from peach and lavender to dark red.

  • Adolf Horstmann: Introduced in 1971, this rose plant is coveted for its strong perfume and peach hue. It blends from a yellow centre to salmon-pink flushes at the outer edges of the petals.
  • All Gold:  A bright yellow rose with green leaves which blooms from summer to autumn.
  • Angel Face: An upright bushy plant rose, mauve/lavender coloured. These roses often grow on single stems, as well as in clusters.
  • Apricot Nectar: Large, apricot hued blooms with a strong fragrance. This rose plant flowers from late spring to late autumn, and even spot flowers in winter.
  • Black Beauty: A red rose plant with beautiful burgundy coloured blooms and a velvety-black underside.
  • Black Magic: One of the few roses to produce superb blooms during Melbourne's hot summers. It produces rich, dark red flowers and grows up to 2 metres in height.
  • Blue Moon: Large lavender blue roses with a strong fragrance. They grow on long, slim stems and are one of the most popular of roses of this colour.
  • Blushing Pierre de Ronsard: A creamy coloured rose plant which grows vigorously, with excellent resistance to disease.
  • Crepuscule: Apricot yellow blooms which grow in small, decorative clusters. They grow over trellises, fences, and walls.

Can you deliver rose plants to my home or landscaping site?
