Locally grown bamboo

We work with local suppliers wherever possible. Our plants, from grasses and flowers to trees and shrubs, are grown locally by businesses we trust. This arrangement helps us to stock ethical, environmentally friendly plants that are acclimatised to thrive in Melbourne's climate.

By working with local suppliers, we can also keep our prices down; we pay less for freight and pass those savings on to our customers. It's better for your garden, better for your bank account, and better for mother nature, too.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I choose bamboo?

Bamboo is beautiful and fast-growing. And, it can be used as a practical material. Many people plant it in their gardens because they love the look of it, or because it is an effective plant for screening and blocking out space. Bamboo is also used in construction and craft projects all around the world because it rivals timber for strength and durability.

How fast does bamboo grow?

Most types of bamboo are tropical plants and grow fastest in warm climates. However, even in Melbourne's slightly cooler climate, there are varieties of Bamboo that will grow extraordinarily quickly. There are over a thousand different varieties of bamboo, and we can help find you one that will grow at the speed you desire.

Do you deliver bamboo in Melbourne?

We deliver all over the Melbourne metropolitan area. The number of places we can deliver is growing quickly — just like Bamboo. If you're located near our Hoppers Crossing nursery, we may be able to offer you free delivery. We offer competitive rates based on distance travelled for those living further out.

We can often provide same-day delivery, although this will depend on driver availability and order size. There is no minimum or maximum size for our delivery orders, so we can drop off as much bamboo as you need.

Is planting bamboo a good idea?

Bamboo is a grass, and it can spread very quickly through a garden. Be conscious of the rate at which bamboo can shoot up and invade space in your yard; certain varieties of bamboo require a watchful eye to keep them under control.

Is it difficult to grow bamboo?

As a rule, it is not difficult to grow bamboo. Bamboo can thrive in many different soil types, climates, and lighting conditions. But, soil with good drainage is especially helpful for fostering a healthy bamboo plant.
